There are several signs that a newDestinyexpansion is just around the corner, but few get the fan base as excited as a new menu. WhileDestiny 2servers are downfor 24-hour maintenance, Bungie has released the new Shadowkeep menu and the music that accompanies it.
Throughout the years, Bungie has updated the main menu forDestinyandDestiny 2to match the expansion or DLC add-on that is available. Most remember when the tone changed dramatically following therelease of The Taken KinginDestiny’s second year, and since then the changing of the menu music has become an annual tradition.

ForDestiny 2: Shadowkeep, Bungie is going for a darker tone in its music. This suggests the shift for the franchise towards a creeping darkness that will presumably be addressed in the future. At present, there is a twistedthreat looming on the Moon.
One element thatDestinyfans have pointed out is that the switch off of the music brings a bright white loading screen. For those of us who plan to jump intoDestiny 2: Shadowkeepon Day 1 and block out the rest of the world, this white background is sure to be a sobering screen before truly jumping in.
AsDestiny 2: Shadowkeeptrailers have explained, nightmares have awoken on the Moon and brought back some of Guardian’s most fearsome foes. Eris Morn has tasked the player with returning to the Moon and targeting the Red Keep, one of the new locations added to the lunar landscape.
Even beyond the content of the Shadowkeep expansion, Bungie has some big things planned for Destiny 2 that should carry it through the next few years. A newArmor 2.0 systemwill allow players to customize their Guardian in ways they never could before and a new Season Pass approach will give players more reasons to grind the game daily.
Ultimately, there will be a lot forDestiny 2players to explore in the first few hours of loading up Shadowkeep. There arenew power level capsto race to, a new Garden of Salvation raid to prepare for, and new exotic weapons to chase. But this menu music sets the tone for what is to come.
Destiny 2: Shadowkeepreleases July 29, 2025 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
