Apple TV+has slowly become the streaming home for some of the best science-fiction television. The streamer has continued to roll out major hits likeSeverance,Silo, Foundation, andDark Matter, but it also has a robust library of hidden gems that have gone underseen. From shows likeFor All MankindandInvasiontoMurderbotandSugar, there’s a different sci-fi flavor for everyone.

By investing in unique creative visions and high-concept thrills,Apple TV+ is now the streaming destination for sci-fi. It seems that the streamer will only continue to solidify this asFoundationconcludes season 3 and with the return of shows likeSeveranceandSiloon the horizon. But, while the wait may be long for the latter two series, one sci-fi show is set to premiere quite soon and, if Bob Odenkirk is to be believed, it has the chance to blow all of these out of the water.

Smile in Pluribus

Television mastermind Vince Gilligan is following upBetter Call SaulwithPluribus, a new series shrouded in mystery. Apple has only released an intriguingly vague plot synopsis stating,“The most miserable person on Earth must save the world from happiness,“and thePluribustrailers have so far been quick clips with a very sinister energy.

Despite all this mystery, at least one person in the world has an inkling of just how big the series is going to be. Odenkirk, who worked with Gilligan for years as Saul Goodman onBreaking BadandBetter Call Saul, toldTHRthat he is very excited to seePluribus, comparing it to aGame of Thrones-level event.

“I don’t know a damn thing. But I know it’s going to be massive. Massive! It’s going to be the biggest thing, well, since sliced bread, but really sinceGame of Thrones. You probably know what’s biggest [lately], but probably sinceSeverance. I knowSeverance, in its way, is a big, big effort. So I think that [Pluribus] is going to be the next big show, and I can’t wait.”

Pluribus Could Be Another Seismic Apple TV+ Series

Gilligan is no stranger to television hits. Of course,Breaking Badis widely considered one of the greatest shows of all time, as is its follow-up,Better Call Saul. But Gilligan also worked onThe X-Files, so not only does he have a handle on nuanced character dramas, but he also knows how to work within the world of a sci-fi epic. Though it’s hard to truly tell justhow massivePluribuswill be, it’s an intriguing notion to think of where Gilligan could take such a premise.

Pluribusis set to premiere on November 7 and, besides a few other scant details like supporting cast members Karolina Wydra and Carlos Manuel Vesga, the series is holding onto the secrecy surrounding it. That may be Apple TV+’s best bet for building hype for the series, which certainly has the potential to be both a critical darling and a beloved hit with audiences.
