Albert Kim known for work onSleepy Hollow&Nikitahas been recruited to take over as the showrunner for Netflix’s live-action adaptation ofAvatar: The Last Airbender.Albert Kim will also be the central writer as well as executive produce with Dan Lin (The Lego Movie, Aladdin)Lindsey Liberatore (Walker)and Michael Goi (Swamp Thing).Avatar: The Last Airbenderwill also get Roseanne Liang, Jabbar Raisani, and Michael Goi as directors.
Going through development troubles is putting it lightly,Avatar: The Last Airbenderwill be based on the original television series thataired on Nickelodeon and brought back to Netflix. They also announced the cast which Kim says aims to strive for authenticity.

Gordon Cormier known for work inThe Standwill play Aang, who is a 12-year-old that is also the Avatar (the titular hero). Aang is a master of all four elements (air, water, earth, and fire). Kiawentiio (Rutherford Falls) will be playing Katara, who is a 14-year-old natural waterbender. Ian Ousley (Physical) is playing Sokka, Katara’s 16-year-old brother who is a goofy, lovable leader that goes down a path of maturity. Finally, Dallas Liu (Shang-Chi, Pen15) is playing the fan-favoriteZuko, who is a dangerous firebender and Crown Princeof the Fire Nation. Zuko is currently in exile and believes that if he on a quest to capture/bring back the Avatar that he will be accepted back.
Many fans are hoping this live action does better than the infamous live action film. This film strives to cast authentic actors in the roles rather than white wash the characters and change up the story. Right now only these four have been cast so hopefully fans get to see morepopular characters like Irohand Azula.
Another thing the creators must keep in mind is the powers and fighting as the animated show made a lot of impossible feats look good through its fight scenes.Fans are looking forward to seeing Tophlift a boulder and send multiple small rocks out or Aang do backflips off of small footings. There’s a good team behind this project so it’ll likely do well, here’s hoping that this timeAvatar: The Last Airbendergets done right!
