What Nautilus' Newest Trailer Means For The AMC+ Show
Nautilus May Resonate More With American Audiences Than European Viewers
AMC’s newest trailer forNautilusseems almost as ambitious as the concept of revisiting one of the seminal science fiction novels of the 19th century. It’s clear thatNautilusis aiming quite high, and it promises to provide roaring adventure, cute humor, and an otherworldly blend of science fiction and fantasy. The trailer also highlights characters other than Captain Nemo, like Humility Lucas (Georgia Flood), which hints that the series will be something of an ensemble akin toStar Trek.
AMC’s new trailer may also helpNautilusappeal more to American audiences than it did to European viewers.Nautilushas just two reviews from critics and fewer than 100 from viewers onRotten Tomatoes, and they’re mixed at best. This trailer highlightsNautilus' similarities toPirates of the Caribbean, and AMC may be trying to emphasize its adventure and fantasy to draw in a wider American audience. Its comedy in particular may appeal to Americans' senses of humor more than it did to British and Irish viewers, and this trailer does a good job of highlighting that.
Our Take On Nautilus' First Trailer & U.S. Debut
I’m Cautiously Optimistic About Nautilus' Sense Of Adventure & Humor
The first full-length trailer forNautilus' American release looks promising, but I’m hesitant to put too much faith in the show.Nautilushad an exceptionally unique development and distribution schedule, which usually doesn’t bode well for a high-concept sci-fi series. It also doesn’t seem to have performed well in its initial European release, which is another bad sign. However,AMC’s new trailer forNautilusdoes give me hope that the show will provide some excitement, adventure, and a few good laughs. Only time will tell, butNautilusmay just surprise us.
