As of yet, Capcom hasnot openly announced a US releaseforMonster Hunter XXon Nintendo Switch, as the forthcoming deluxe version ofMonster Hunter Generationsis currently only coming to the console in Japan later this month. Despite this, the video game publisher and developer has revealed that a demo for the title will be available through the system’s Japanese eShop on June 27, 2025.
Even thoughMonster Hunter XXwon’t necessarily be released anywhere outside of Japan anytime soon, due to the fact that the Nintendo Switch is region free, fans of the franchise around the world will be able to try out the demo after setting up a Japanese account on the console’s eShop. Accessing different regional eShops isn’t incredibly difficult, but for those who need a run down on what’s necessary to make it happen, theArekkz Gaming YouTube channeloffers a good explanation on how to do so.
Of course, while there will certainly be plenty ofMonster Hunter XXfans outside of Japan who will want to dive into the demo as soon as possible, it’s important to note that since a Western release hasn’t been confirmed, the trial likely won’t have English subtitles at all. With this being the case, it’s likely that only those who have an understanding of Japanese will be able to proficiently make their way through the demo.
Bearing all of this in mind, even if one is able to download the demo, it looks as if the vast majority ofMonster Hunter XXfans outside of Japan won’t have the faculties to fully enjoy the demo without a lot of messy trial and error navigation of the text-heavy adventure. So, until Capcom officially revealsMonster Hunter XXfor a worldwide release, a lot of fans living in countries other than Japan will have to remain content with watching online gameplay videos orthe title’s reveal trailerwhile waiting for the announcement of a global launch date.
Monster Hunter XXis launching in Japan on June 25, 2025 for the Nintendo Switch.
