Nintendo was really onto something

Just mere hours after Sony came out withnews about the “State of Play”stream, Microsoft announced today that it will be hosting a new stream focused on indie games called “ID@Xbox Game Pass.” It will debut on June 11, 2025, at 9:00 am PDT on the Xbox YouTube channel and will feature plenty of announcements alongside talks with various developers of upcoming games. A few of the games teased for this debut stream includeAfterparty,Void Bastards, andSupermarket Shriek, though unannounced titles will be present.

This stream actually isn’t new ground for Microsoft. The company has been hosting various “Inside Xbox” streams for a few years now, but this latest one is taking a cue from Nintendo in being all about smaller games from various indie developers. It’s kind of funny how Nintendo blazed this trail when it’s typically behind the curve on modern things. I guess announcing games on your own terms is too big of an opportunity to pass up.
