Sinnersno longer has a perfectRotten Tomatoesscore.Considerable anticipation has been building around Michael B. Jordan and Ryan Coogler’s new horror movie, especially in light of the 100% score that continued to be maintained as new reviews were added. Manyreviews forSinnershave declared it to be the best movie of 2025 so far, with Jordan excelling in his dual role as twins Smoke and Stack, and this being the best film yet in Coogler’s increasingly impressive career.
The 99thRotten Tomatoesreview forSinnershas nowchanged the perfect Tomatometer score to 99%. The singular “rotten” review so far comes from Jason Escamilla ofEskimoTV, who praises the movie’s ending, but admits that the"slow buildup left me restless.“At the time this is being written, there are now 101 reviews in total making up the overall 99% Tomatometer score. A Popcornmeter score will be calculated followingSinners' theatrical debut on April 18.
What This Means For Sinners
It Is Still Critically Acclaimed And Eagerly Anticipated
Despite losing its perfect score,Sinnersis still one of themost anticipated movies of 2025, and one review does not change the fact thatthe horror movie has received an overwhelming amount of critical acclaim. The general audience reception may not be the same as the critical reception, with slower pacing being a factor that could potentially frustrate viewers.
It seems unlikely to be a deal-breaker, though, especially given the many other strengths thatSinnersclearly possesses. The one “rotten” review evenadmits thatSinners' ending is"powerful"and"surreal.“If the movie is able to deliver the kind of satisfying ending that is alluded to here, this may be enough to make up for any frustration that is elicited by the pacing.
Despite the involvement of Jordan and Coogler, who have both worked on Marvel Cinematic Universe movies before, there is no expectation ofSinnersfeeling like a superhero movie. Like any good horror film, suspense will gradually build, and this is something that audiences can expect ahead of time.
Our Take On Sinners' New Rotten Tomatoes Score
The High Level Of Anticipation Has Not Been Diminished
Sinnerslosing its 100% Tomatometer score does not change how excited I am about the movie. I amstill just as eager to see Jordan and Coogler’s latest collaborationand am curious to see how my experience does or does not align with the existing reviews. WhetherSinners' box officecan be a success is another matter, but at this point, I have no doubt that the movie can live up to the anticipation, and prove that the high level of critical acclaim is warranted.
