Konami’s trailer for theMetal Gear Solid 3pachinko machine earns massive hate from series fans, with the video receiving an overwhelming number of dislikes on YouTube.

WithHideo Kojima leaving Konami last yearunder strange circumstances, and the company making a number of decisions that upset its fans, it’s no surprise that what it is now doing with theMetal Gear SolidIP has drawn the ire of enthusiasts. For those unaware, aMetal Gear Solid 3-themed pachinko machineis being released by Konami in Japan, and fans are not responding well to it.

At the time of this writing, the trailer for theMetal Gear Solidpachinko machine has over 30,000 dislikes on YouTube, and has yet to crack 1,000 likes. Ratio-wise, this makes it one of the most disliked videos on the entire website, even more so than theCall of Duty: Infinite Warfarereveal trailer, which was met with similar vitriol earlier this year.

Konami should have expected the kind of response it would get by uploading the trailer for theMetal Gear Solidpachinko machine online. After all, Konami has fallen out of the good graces of its fans, thanks to its cancellation ofSilent Hills, apparent mistreatment of its star developer Hideo Kojima, and its abandonment of its traditional gaming business in favor of making pachinko machines instead.

At the same time, it’s hard to fault Konami for utilizing its assets. Thepachinko machinesare apparently bringing in more money than Konami was making in the console gaming market, and by slapping theMetal Gear SolidIP on the machine, it may convince Japanese fans of the franchise to give it a shot.

Perhaps fans will respond better when they see thenewMetal Gear Solidgamethat is supposedly in development at Konami. Of course, there’s a chance that fans will automatically reject it since it won’t be developed by Hideo Kojima, but if it looks impressive enough, maybe they’ll let bygones be bygones.
