Hulkis one of the strongest beings in the Marvel Universe, but theAvengers’new team just confirmed that one MCU icon is indeed just as powerful, asNamorthe Submariner goes toe to toe with the Gade Giant. These two heroes have fought many times before, but Namor’s latest battle against the Hulk displays quite the feat of strength.
The preview to New Avengers #3, by Sam Humphries and Ton Lima, shows the Avengers chasing down Hulk to free Bruce Banner whenNamor lands a devastating punch on the Hulk, with the Hulk getting hit so hard, he draws blood and falls over.
With Namor’s recent show of strength, the Avengers just got a new Hulk-level powerhouse.

As an Atlantean and a mutant, Namor is incredibly strong, with his strength becoming even more potent when in the water, and long-time fans of the character know that Namor is strong enough to contend with some of Marvel’s most powerful. And though Namor’s strength is tied to his connections with water, he is no weakling when on land either.
It is assumed that someone as notoriously strong as Hulk would beat Namor outside of his element of water. However, Namor has knocked Hulk out several times before, and this moment inNew Avengers#3 highlights that Namor is still strong enough to go toe to toe with the Hulk, even when he’s not in his element.
BecauseHulk has god-level strength with almost no upper limit, it is safe to say Namor can not beat Hulk’s more powerful iterations. However, Namor can certainly beat the base-level Hulk. Namor defeats Hulk in their encounter duringIncredible Hulk#118 by Stan Lee and Herb Trimpe, where Namor knocks Hulk out with such force that he turns back into Bruce Banner.

In the MCU, Namor’s strength was highlightedinBlack Panther: Wakanda Forever,where it’s suggested that his power is on par with the Hulk’s as M’Baku equates the Submariner’s strength to the Green Giant. While it remains a topic of debate whether MCU Namor could defeat the MCU Hulk, his comic book counterpart has already proven he can take Hulk down.
Namor and Hulk’s history has shown Namor can hold his own against the Hulk, but their last throwdown proves he actually has a good chance of overpowering the Green Goliath. With the Hulk out of control andimprisoning Bruce Banner within the Hulkscape,Namoris more than capable of serving as the Avengers' new Hulk-level powerhouse.
