I already know that the coolest promo cards in the upcomingMagic: The Gathering-Marvel’s Spider-Manexpansion are going to be impossible to get. Spider-Man is the latestintellectual property to get anMTGcrossover, following theimmensely popularFinal Fantasyset. Part of the Universes Beyond series of crossovers, Spidey and friends will appear on a series of brand-new cards due out later this month.

And while there are lots of ways to get your hands onthe regular Spider-Man releases, the set also includes a handful of special promo cards that are likely to be hard to find. While a few of them are also available with the main set, some of them aren’t - and their unusual release strategy is almost certain to make them incredibly rare.

Some Promo Cards Are Exclusive

CertainMagic: The Gatheringpromo cards from theSpider-Mansetwill be attached to theMarvel Legends figure series. The following promo cards will all be available with Marvel Legends products. Not all of them are exclusive to the collectible figure set; the bolded card is only available with figures.

Depicting a wide variety of characters from across Marvel history, the Legends series has been produced by Hasbro since 2006. The six-inch figures are posable, often with swappable parts, and designed for hardcore collectors, which, when blended withMagic: The Gathering, makes for the perfect storm.

The New Magic Cards For Marvel Legends Figures Will Be Hard To Find

Marvel Legends Exclusivity Makes Them Rarer

While it’s fascinating to see two eminently collectible product lines join forces, it’s at least a little regrettable thatthe Marvel Legends tie-in will makeSpider-ManpromoMTGcards especially hard to find.

Marvel Legends collectors are serious about the hobby, and many of its figures are only produced in limited runs. In other words, the figures regularly sell out. That goes double with theMTGintegration: with two rare collectibles in one, these particular figures are basically guaranteed to fly off the shelves.

Besides, the exclusive cards will be inherently expensive -Legends can run you anywhere from $25 to $80, depending on what’s included. Some players will buy the figures just to get their hands on the cards inside, which is a pretty penny to pay for anMTGsingle. I can only imagine what it’ll cost to buy one from a reseller.

That said, these tie-ins will undeniably make very nice collectibles for those select few who are able to get their hands on them. And if it helps bringMagic: The Gatheringto a wider audience, then that’s an added bonus, too.
