Leverage: Redemptionwill finally introduce a long-missing character from the show in season 4, if Prime Video renews the series.Leverage: Redemptionseason 3 is right around the corner, offering new storylines for the core crew as they continue working for the sake of the justice they deliver. This includes the return of its many familiar faces, all of whom have important roles to play in the long-running series. It also featured many new ideas, such as introducing Eliot’s (Christian Kane) foster father in season 2, while continuing to build upon ideas set up in the original show.

Speaking withScreenRant, executive producer Dean Devlin, alongside Breanna actor Aleyse Shannon and Parker star Beth Riesgraf, explained how they plan to formally introduce Nana inLeverage: Redemption’s future. They discuss the long talked-about foster mother of Breanna and Hardison (Aldis Hodge), but say she wouldn’t have a role in the story until season 4. This, however, depends on how well season 3 performs, and if Prime Video renews the show for more episodes. Check out what Devlin, Shannon, and Riesgraf had to say below:

Breanna Casey in Leverage Redemption

Aleyse Shannon:A lot of people say this on Hardison’s side, as well. I’d love to see, like you said, what has brought her all the way to Leverage? We mentioned in The Maple Syrup Job, and the Canada of it all. I’d love to see a little bit of the childhood. I’d love to get a Nana episode in there, and cover that for the both of us. I know Nana’s a beloved topic, especially as Hardison’s is concerned, and I think it would be a cool thing to explore.

Beth Riesgraf:I actually asked them for one, too, this year. I was like, “Can we get Nana? We gotta have a Nana episode!”

Aldis Hodge as Hardison standing in the middle of a street with his hand raised as if to look at his watch, but is actually looking forward in Leverage Redemption

What Nana’s Introduction Would Mean For Leverage: Redemption

It Would Offer A New Dynamic For Some Characters In Particular

If she does show up, then it would also make sense for Hardison to return toLeverage: Redemptionas well, given that he was the original connective tissue between her and the team.

Nana has been mentioned since theoriginalLeverageseries, with Hardison often mentioning his foster mother, fleshing out her backstory in the process. This includes her being a stern yet caring figure in his youth, with him going as far as to hack a bank in Iceland to pay off her medical bills in the past. As revealed inLeverage: Redemption,Parker and Eliot have also spent time with her, and she’s been brought up twice in both seasons so far, including how she connects the original series character with Breanna.

It’s unclear what role Nana would have if she were formally introduced the show. Based on Riesgraf’s comment in particular,it seems like she might just appear as a guest, which could allow her to stay an elusive yet important figure in multiple characters' lives. If she does show up, then it would also make sense forHardison to return toLeverage: Redemptionas well, given that he was the original connective tissue between her and the team.

Our Take On Nana Getting Introduced In Leverage: Redemption Season 4

Season 3 Still Needs To Play Out Before It’s Confirmed

Nana’s appearance is a long time coming, and something that it makes sense for the series to tackle now that so much time has passed since she was first mentioned. However,Leverage: Redemptionseason 3 still needs to play out before she can appear, meaning her future role will be determined by the success of the upcoming episodes. With the series already proving itself a strong, long-running sequel, though, her showing up might become a reality sooner than expected.

Leverage: Redemptionseason 3 premieres on Thursday, April 17 on Prime Video.
