As a medieval-style RPG,Kingdom Come: Deliverancewill remind players of similar games likeSkyrimandThe Witcher. The team at Warhorse Studios seems aware that these comparisons are inevitable, and have decided to include some easter eggs inKingdom Come: Deliverancethat reference some of its influences.
One particular easter egg found inKingdom Come: Deliveranceis a reference toThe Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. If players visit the stables at Merhojed, they can find a horse named Roach. As anyone that played throughThe Witcher 3can tell you, Roach is the name of Geralt’s horse in the game.
The Witcher 3easter egg doesn’t stop there. If players speak with the stable owner, he will directly reference the famous sex scene fromThe Witcher 3where Geralt and Yennifer have sex on top of a unicorn. Furthermore, the stable owner says Roach was sold to him by an “odd Polish fellow,” a reference toThe Witcherfranchise’s Polish roots.

While it’s true thatKingdom Come: Deliverancewill inevitably find itself compared to greats in the genre likeSkyrimandThe Witcher 3, the game has managed to carve its own unique niche with genre fans thanks to its “realism.” Whereas games likeThe Witcher 3feature showdowns with monsters and the use of magic powers,Kingdom Come: Deliveranceprides itself on its realism, to the point that even something as simple as thelockpicking systemrequires some players to refer to guides.
Some players have praisedKingdom Come’s realism, whereas others feel as though it can sometimes be a detriment to their enjoyment of the game. These fans have expressed their frustrations to game director Daniel Vavra, who has promised that changes are on the way to make the game a bit more accessible.
Despite releasing to a lukewarm critical reception,Kingdom Come: Deliverancehas been a surprise hit with fans, selling about 500,000 copiesin its first week on sale alone. As its player base grows, one has to imagine that even more easter eggs hidden in its open world will be discovered.
Kingdom Come: Deliveranceis available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
