The first big surprise announcement of gamescom 2017 isJurassic World Evolution, a park simulator allowing players to create their very own Jurassic World. Developed byRollerCoaster Tycoonveterans Frontier Developments, coming off ofElite: DangerousandPlanet Coaster,Jurassic World Evolutionis a licensed game based on the everyone’s favorite dinosaur movies. ExpectJurassic World Evolutionto launch in summer 2018 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
Frontier’s Chief Creative Officer, Jonny Watts, offered the following prepared statement regardingJurassic World Evolution’s announcement:
“As long-time fans of the entireJurassicseries we’re thrilled to be putting players in charge of their own Jurassic World. We’re excited to bring over fifteen years of management, simulation, and creature development expertise to a destination and franchise that remains an inspiration to us.”
InJurassic World Evolution, players will return to the iconic location of Isla Nublar, the location of both the originalJurassic Parkfilm as well as the modernJurassic World. However, the game will also expand into surrounding islands of the Muertes Archipelago, which should excite fans of Michael Crichton’s source material.
Players will not only bebuilding a park, but will also have to breed their very own dinosaurs. That includes attractions, containment facilities, and research facilities, all of which will strain the balance of control within the park. After all, everyone knows the inevitable ending building aJurassic Park, right? We’ve had several movies on the subject already. “Life finds a way,” is a predominant theme within the game as well as the movies.
Today’sJurassic World Evolutionannouncement was made duringMicrosoft’s big Xbox pre-gamescom media livestream. Despite that,Jurassic World Evolutionis not an Xbox exclusive or even a console exclusive. The only console left out of the mix is the Nintendo Switch, but who knows what Frontier might be able to do in the future.
