With such an enduring legacy and passionate fanbase, it was only a matter of time untilThe Matrixsecured a big-budget modern-day sequel, with Lana Wachowski announcing she was returning to the iconic franchise last year. Picking up Carrie-Anne Moss, Jada Pinkett Smith, and, of course,Keanu Reeves, it seems the highly-anticipated fourth film will opt to sidestep the traditional reboot route in favor of a direct sequel, with numerous members of the original cast and crew returning.
However, it seems some new faces will be joining the team behindThe Matrix 4,with the directors behind the incredibly popularJohn Wickfranchise, Chad Stahelski and David Leitch, announcing that they’ll be working on some of the new film’s action sequences. Naturally, that’s incredibly exciting, especially seen as both men have once been involved with theMatrixfranchise in stunt roles in the past.

Chad Stahelski was the martial arts coordinator forThe Matrix: ReloadedandThe Matrix: Revolutions, while also acting as a stunt double forNeo, while David Leitch was a stunt player inThe Matrix: Reloaded.Not only do both men have a strong working relationship withThe Matrix 4’sleading man Keanu Reeves, but they both have extensive and detailed knowledge in how to craft superb action sequences.
Outside ofThe Matrix,Chad Stahelski will be taking on the job of making afourthJohn Wickfilmin the near future as well. Not only is the film franchise currently one of the biggest in the action genre, but it seems now both Leitch and Stahelski are becoming incredibly significant names in Hollywood.
The Matrix 4will release on July 14, 2025.
