AfterJeopardy!contestant Alice Welch shared a story about him on the show in her interview with host Ken Jennings, actor John Stamos campaigned for her to return to the show.
During her interview with host Ken Jennings,Alice shared that she became a pharmacist because of John Stamos. She shared that when she was a senior in high school, she was working at a local greeting card store, which she hated. John came to town to do photos and sign autographs, but her boss wouldn’t let her go to meet him, telling her that she had to choose between John or her job.
Alice then said her now-viral line,“Obviously John Stamos.“Three days later, Alice got a job at the local pharmacy, and she then went to pharmacy school. She concluded by saying that John changed her life.
In an Instagram post,Johnshared Alice’sJeopardy!interview, writing,“Thank you for sharing this story, Alice! Put a big smile on my face. And for the record - I think you would [have] found success no matter what choice you made that day. Hope we get to meet again in person! xJS.”
In the comments section of John’s post,Alice responded,“Thanks so much for posting! This [was] as exciting as being on @jeopardy was!! You were so sweet even though I was probably the thousandth person that day! You did unknowingly change my life and it was the perfect story! Sending you the picture now!!”
In a second Instagram post,Johnshared Alice’s picture with him, along with a request toJeopardy!to bring Alice back for the Second Chance Tournament. In the caption he wrote,“Obviously John Stamos. Alice shared the photo of when she skipped work to come meet me. What a fun story. Oh and this is my petition to get @allynyc_211 back on later this year for the Second Chance Tournament…your move @jeopardy.”

What John Stamos' Support Means For Alice Welch Returning To Jeopardy!
Alice Should Compete In The Second Chance Tournament
TheJeopardy!Second Chance Tournament to which John was referring brings back contestants who didn’t win the game, but who had high scores, and are often fan favorites.TheJeopardy!Second Chancecontestants have an opportunityto win a spot in the Tournament of Champions. In Alice’sJeopardy!game, she placed second with a score of $11,601, behind winner Thomas, who earned $16,401.
While having a celebrity endorsement from John isn’t enough to earn a spot in the Second Chance Tournament,Alice’s final impressive score means that she will probably be considered. In addition, because her story has gone viral, and she’s so beloved, she’d make the ideal Second Chance Tournament contestant.
Our Take On Alice Competing In The Jeopardy! Second Chance Tournament
Alice Could Go Far If She Returns To Jeopardy!
I agree with John that Alice should return for theJeopardy!Second Chance Tournament. I think thatshe has the potential to become the next Juveria Zaheer, and make it through the Second Chance Tournament to the Tournament of Champions and beyond.Juveria most recently made it throughto the final four of theJeopardy! Masterstournament, and could go all the way. She’s an inspiration to players who don’t win their first games.
With her quick wit, impressive skills, and charming personality, Alice has the potential to dominate in the Second Chance Tournament. Her final score of $11,601 in her only game was higher than some recentJeopardy!winners' final single-game scores. When theJeopardy!producers make their choices for the Second Chance Tournament, hopefully they’ll say,“Obviously Alice Welch.”
