Jak 2is a game beloved by many longtime fans of the PlayStation brand, and Jak’s pal Daxter is even one of our 10favorite video game side-kicks of all time. While it may not be as widely regarded as games likeRatchet and Clank, theJakseries has a special place in the hearts of many platformer fans, though the franchise was somewhat pushed to the side as developer Naughty Dog began working on theUnchartedgames. However, it appears fans of the second game are in luck, as a limited physical edition will become available later this week.

TheJak 2collector’s edition comes packed full of goodies like a foil-stamped box, 3-disc soundtrack, Jak II Design Bible, and 3" antique copper Seal of Mar, as well as a few other items. All-in-all, the special edition looks great and would be a wonderful addition to any enthusiasts wall. However, it’s limited to a mere 3,500 units, so fans will likely need to act fast if they want to pick one up. There will also be a standard edition that doesn’t include any of the extras, though 7,500 units of those will be made available.

TheJak and Daxtergames have beenavailable digitally on the PS4for a while now, with a bundle containing a few of the later games being released about a year ago on the platform. This bundle will definitely be more highly regarded by fans that wish to own physical copies of the game, though. Plus, the collector’s edition looks like it will blend in well with a wall of other special editions, which is always a plus.

Many fans have been aching for a new entry in theJak and Daxterfranchise, or at least a remake like the oneRatchetand Clankgot. However, Naughty Dog stated a few years ago thatthe studio currently has no plans for the character.Of course, things change and there’s always the chance that the developer could surprise fans with some sort of announcement. Just about every other classic platformer franchise has gotten an update in the last few years, and it seems like a no brainer thatJak and Daxtershould too.

Jak 2’s limited physical PS4 edition will be available on January 25th, 2019.
