World of Warcraftis in an interesting spot right now. We’re right on the cusp ofthe newMidnightexpansion, and the final major content patch is going to be delivered very soon. That’s prime catch-up time for new and lapsed players, as you’ll be able to engage with pretty much everythingthe currentWar Withinexpansionhas to offer while you prep for what’s to come.

Although we still don’t have a precise release date forMidnight(which willinclude player housing),we do know that the last bigWar Withinpatch is scheduled forAugust 5. We’re getting a brand new zone, more main story and questlines, and a final raid. It’s a ton of content, and should keep players busy for a few months, if not until 2026.

WoW’s Last Major War Within Patch Is Coming In Early August

August 5 Is When The Rollout Starts

There’s a lot to unpack when it comes to the Ghosts of K’aresh patch, butthe crux of it deals with the storyline leading intoMidnight, the second part of theWorldsoul Sagatrilogy. The new zone this time is the ethereal world of K’aresh, as well as the return of Tazavesh, the Veiled Market, from the polarizingShadowlandsexpansion.

Season 3 ofThe War Withinwill kick off on August 12, bringing a new dungeon into the mix (which will include the new Waystone checkpoint system, a more visible way of showing instanced checkpoints), as well as obligatory class balancing (chiefly for Shadow Priest, Brewmaster Monk, Frost Death Knight, and Unholy Death Knight). PVPers will be able to partake in slaying on Vanquisher’s Wake island, and the best part is that there’s no lengthy questline for it; you just need to turn on War Mode.

A big point of order for hardcore fans:the Manaforge Omega raid will unlock on August 12, for normal, heroic, and mythic difficulties, while the raid finder (LFR) will be restricted to the first wing. On August 19 story mode and the second wing will open in raid finder, with the third wing opening up in the same tool on August 26. Your job is to fight the larger-than-life boss Dimensius, yet another massive force in theWoWworld and destroyer of K’aresh.

It’s Time To Catch Up On WoW Content Before Midnight Arrives

There are Plenty Of Opportunities To Catch Up

As is customary with theme park style MMOs,World of Warcraftis entering another catch-up era. Unless you’re a high-end raider, a lot of this upcoming patch will be designed around accessibility, allowing players new and old to level up easier than ever, and acquire new forms of power that will help catapult them into the new content that’s left before Midnight hits.

As someone who has followed theWorld of Warcraftsaga from the beginning and heartily enjoyed theBurning Crusadeera, theMidnightexpansion looks like a blast. We’re coming back to Quel’Thalas, which is a lore can of worms, and delving once again into the battle for the Sunwell. The big draw will be playing housing: a system that has been on player wishlists sinceWorld of Warcraftwas released. The smaller scale that Blizzard has been hinting at could also be a boon, especially if the updated and new zones are packed full of things to do.
