Best iteration yet?

Nintendo just had its “final”Super Smash Bros.Nintendo Direct, and it was a big one. In addition to the confirmation of Corrin, the launch ofCloud(and his Midgar stage), and the announcement of some Mii costumes,Bayonetta was unveiled, which is easily the biggest news of the night. I had a chance to play with Cloud, and although he isn’t my favorite fighter, he’s translated incredibly well, and I’m actually having more fun with him and his stage than most of the other third-party additions in the past.

In fact, I’m enjoyingSuper Smash Bros.as a whole more than its predecessors, and at some point late this year, it really did topMeleefor me. It’s a return to form for the series after the disappointingBrawl, and has a strong foundation that casual and hardcore fans alike can get behind. More and more I’ve seen local tournies convert fromMelee-only to the new version, and that’s a good thing.
