Netflix took overTemptation Island, which had previously aired on Fox and then on USA, and season 1 was a smashing success, but not for the reasons you may think. Sure,Shanté Glover shocked viewers when she decided to stay with Brion Whitleyafter he unapologetically cheated on her and had a threesome with the temptresses, but the show was successful for other reasons as well. Namely, the season was filled with drama at every turn, and Mark L. Walberg was an amazing host.

Grant promised his girlfriend Ashley Moore that he would remain faithful, yet cheated on her almost immediately with Natalie Cruz. Then,Grant had the audacity to justify his actionsby claiming the things Ashley said about him on the island were just as bad as cheating.
Meanwhile,Lino proved a man could be faithfuldespite living in the midst of temptation whenhe sent home temptress Mia Jones. Mia was clear that she wanted to build a connection with Lino, even crying when he didn’t choose her to go on a date. Lino thought Mia was too intense, especially when he wanted to remain loyal to his girlfriend.
Ultimately, Lino proposed to Alexa at the final bonfire, and she joyfully accepted.
Tayler probably had the biggest transformation duringTemptation Islandseason 1. After watching Tyler fall for temptress Kay Carlson, Tayler worried that because every man in her life thus far had left her, that pattern would continue on for the rest of her life. However, by the end of the season,Tayler realized her self-worth and learned to love herselfregardless of her relationship status. Plus, it didn’t hurt that Case Bruton returned to the island after self-eliminating, specifically to develop a connection with Tayler.
Shanté & Brion’s Relationship Has Got A Lot Of Attention

Yet, when push came to shove, Shanté decided to leave the island with Brion and take another stab at their relationship.Fans were upset with Shanté for enabling Brion’s behaviorand not standing up for herself. The dramatic decision has put a lot of eyes on Shanté and Brion’s relationship.
On the one hand,fans shouldn’t judge Shanté because it’s her lifeand she can make her own decisions, even if other people disagree with those choices. On the other hand,Shanté recently announced her split from Brion, so maybe she should have left him back on the island. Shanté and Brion were an integral part ofTemptation Islandseason 1, but they weren’t the sole reason the show was successful.
Host Mark L. Walberg Is The Best Part Of The Show

Ultimately,Temptation Islandworks so well becauseMark L. Walberg is the perfect host. He doesn’t let the cast lie to themselves, and will call anyone out if he thinks they’re being dishonest at a bonfire. Summarily, Mark wants the cast members to grow as people during their journeys on the reality dating show. He gives tough love when it’s necessary, but he’s also there for the cast during their darkest moments. Mark is a huge reason why the show is so great, and he deserves a lot of credit for that.
