WithGrand Theft Auto 6set to release in May of next year,GTAfans will likely play the prior games in anticipation, and one of the best ways to do so is to achieve 100% completion inGrand Theft Auto 5. I’ve been having aRockstar Games marathon these past few years on Xbox, but there’s a reason why I haven’t gotten everyGTA 5achievement.
WhileGTA 5’sstory mode is perfectly doable to 100%, theGTA OnlineDLC achievements are a different story.GTA 5has the hardest achievement ever put into a Rockstar gamewith Masterminds from the Doomsday Heist DLC. It’sby far the hardest trophy in the game, requiring three separate perfect runs of the entire Doomsday Heist, and this one trophy will probably lock many out of full 100% completion.
How To Complete The Masterminds Achievement
A Team-Based Nightmare
In order to get the Masterminds achievement, you must complete the three separate Criminal Mastermind challenges in the Doomsday Heist. This was the second set of heists ever put intoGTA Onlineand consists of three full acts; plus, you’ll need to buy a Facility first to access the content. To complete the Criminal Mastermind challenges, you must beat the entire three-act heist in order with the same group on Hardwithout any teammate dying on Setups or Finales.
If any person dies, you must restart from the very beginning. On top of that, remember that there are three Criminal Mastermind challenges: one for beating it withtwo people, three people, and four people. That means you’ll have to do three entire no-death playthroughs, which has to be the worst part of this achievement.
Why Masterminds Is So Unbelievably Difficult
One Of The Hardest Achievements Of All Time
Completing a single no-death run of the Doomsday Heist is already challenging enough, but you must do it three times, and the team-based math isn’t in your favor. Ideally, you’ll have an entire four-player squad set upfor this achievement. The two-player Doomsday Heist run can be completed separately, and the four-player run has no issues. It’s the three-player run that causes problems because one player will be left out. The squad will have to do another three-player run for that one person, or the player will have to join another Criminal Mastermind group.
To put everything in perspective, I couldn’t even beat the Act 1 Setup, Dead Courier.
It’s not the cleanest achievement-hunting experience. Dying in the Doomsday Heist can becircumvented by hitting the guide button and closing the game. However, it is time-sensitive. Also, if you die because your personal vehicle explodes with you in it, it’s an instant challenge failed. Yourawesome, fast personal carmight lead to your undoing. The Criminal Mastermind challenge can also glitch out, and your progress will be reset for no reason.
That’s the worst when it happens. To put everything in perspective, I couldn’t even beat the Act 1 Setup, Dead Courier. I died plenty of times and just couldn’t lose the cops. Apparently, the latter was due to a bug, but I still can’t imagine how difficult it would beto complete just this one Setup mission without dying. The mission is at the very start of the Doomsday Heist, and completing all three acts without dying three times seems like a challenge only for the eliteGTA Onlineplayers.
For achievement/trophy hunters, complete the base achievement list. Trophy hunters on PlayStation tend to focus on platinum trophies anyway, but for Xbox players, don’t go for the full 1750 gamerscore. You’ll have a nightmare of a time fully 100% completingGrand Theft Auto 5, and you probably won’t be able to do it beforeGTA 6comes out.
