For the first time ever, theGoldencontestants will be joining theBachelorandBachelorettealums inBachelor in Paradise. On theBen and Ashley I Almost FamousPodcast, Theresa revealed that she was originally asked to be a contestant onBachelor in Paradiseseason 10 along with the previously announced Leslie Fhima and Gary Levingston, but, ultimately, she wasn’t chosen to be a cast member because she changed her mind too much.

Theresa explained,“The chronology of events was I went through all the testing. I was already there, and they asked me to pick the guys, and then I went and said ‘I really can’t do it.’ But then I actually went back and said, ‘OK, maybe I should give it a shot,’ and then I didn’t get it.“Theresa said that she thought that the producers didn’t choose her because she wasn’t committed enough to being on the show.

Theresa also shared that she was very excited about the show, but she was more thrilled about reuniting with herGolden Bachelorco-stars than dating theGolden Bachelorettecontestants. Theresa and runner-up Leslie have since become great friends. She shared,“I kind of thought it just wasn’t really for me, and I really was so enthusiastic about it when it first came out. I was talking about who I’d be interested in, and then I realized that I was really just excited about seeing the women and having a reunion and having a vacation with them.”

Theresa continued,“So I thought that wasn’t fair to make it about that, and I really didn’t want to go on and pretend or just make up something or make an alliance. And I thought I’d be much better off just watching it, and enjoying Leslie being on the show. So yeah.It just didn’t feel right.”

Theresa also shared that her daughter, Jen, helped her to make the decision not to go to Paradise. She revealed,“I’ve learned so much about myself throughout this entire experience, and one of these things is that I have to be true to myself. So that really is true for me. I will tell you that so many of my decisions I make with my daughter. And, at first, we were both so enthusiastic about it.”

However,Theresa and her daughter changed their minds when they thought about it some more. She said,“And then we thought, ‘Gee, you know what? I’ve gone through such a journey where maybe the public wasn’t so happy about me.’ And now I feel like I have such a great community, and I feel that I’ve got support. And I almost felt like I would go on there and maybe do something that wasn’t going to work out right, and wasn’t going to come across as genuine.”

Theresa added that she didn’t think that she’d be a good match for any of theGolden Bachelorettemen, so she didn’t want to waste their time when they could be dating someone else in Paradise. However,Theresa added that she’s currently looking for love, and has even been dating. She admitted,“I absolutely do want to be in a relationship. And whether or not I’m in one right now, I’m not prepared to discuss.”

However,Theresa then confessed that she’d been on"several"dates with someone, but she’s not ready to call him her boyfriend yet. She met her mystery man on a"dating website.“Theresa’s husband of 42 years, Billy, passed away in 2014.

The chronology of events was I went through all the testing. I was already there, and they asked me to pick the guys, and then I went said ‘I really can’t do it.’ But then I actually went back and said, ‘OK, maybe I should give it a shot,’ and then I didn’t get it.

What Theresa Nist Being Rejected From Bachelor In Paradise Season 10 Means

Theresa’s Heart Wasn’t In It

Although Theresa wasexcited aboutBachelor in Paradiseseason 10 at first, the fact that the producers didn’t choose her means that they could probably sense that her heart wasn’t in it in the end. It’s good that she realized that she was more excited about reuniting with herGolden Bachelorfriends than dating theGolden Bachelorettemen before she joined the cast, becausethe last thing that she needed was another failed public relationship.

In addition, Theresa went through so much after her divorce from Gerry, with some people even casting her as the villain in the relationship, so she and her daughter were right thatgoing to Paradise wasn’t worth risking her reputation, which she’s worked so hard to repair. Theresa is better off dating outside of the public eye, which she seems to be doing now.

Our Take On Theresa Nist Not Appearing In Bachelor In Paradise Season 10

Theresa Is Better Off Without The Show

As a fan of Theresa, I’m relieved to hear that she won’t beappearing inBachelor in Paradiseseason 10, especially if she’s not interested in any of theGoldenBachelorettemen. While the youngerBachelorandBachelorettecontestants have multiple seasons' worth of possible alums, theGoldenfranchise only has one season of men, so there won’t be any surprises about who shows up on the beach. If Theresa already knows that she’s not a good match for any of them, then it’s pointless for her to risk ruining her image by being on the show.

I’m glad Theresa gave going to Paradise so much thought, but I’m even more shocked to see thatthe producers seemed to have her best interest at heart when they rejected her from the show. They seemed to sense her heart wasn’t fully in it, and they protected her from any possible backlash that could’ve come from it. I’m so happy Theresa won’t be appearing inBachelor in Paradisejust for the publicity, and that she seems to be on her way to finding love in the real world. I wish Theresa all the best as she continues her journey.

Bachelor in Paradiseseason 10 premieres on Monday, July 7 on ABC.
