A rival more powerful than Homelander (Antony Starr) is emerging beforeThe Boysseason 5. While there are manystrong super-abled characters inThe Boysuniverse, including Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) and now Billy Butcher (Karl Urban), none of them are quite as powerful as Homelander.

There are hopes of Homelander’s son,Ryan (Cameron Crovetti), being a herowho will one day be strong enough to defeat his father. However, there is no guarantee that this will happen, and with Homelander now in control of the United States of America, alternate solutions need to be found to stop him as soon as possible.

The answer may be one of themost powerfulGen Vcharacters, who, despite their youth, could be the best chance at defeating Homelander and saving the world from his violent tyranny.

Marie Is Already One Of The Most Powerful Supes

She Has Blood Manipulation Powers

Gen Vseason 1 has already established Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair) as a particularly powerful supe due to her blood manipulation powers. This isthe same power that Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit) had, and it was integral to her rise to power, and being able to literally pop open the heads of her political enemies.

Marie Moreau’s blood manipulation powersallow her to control the blood inside others' bodies, and most others arepowerless to prevent their own blood from being weaponized against them. Throughout season 1, she gains further control over her abilities, and will be stronger than ever in season 2.

TheGen Vseason 2 trailerteases Marie’s powers growing further, as she now has the ability to levitate another individual. Dean Cipher (Hamish Linklater) claims that, under his guidance, she could become the most powerful supe to have trained at Godolkin University, and even become more powerful than Homelander.

Gen V Really Could Make Marie Strong Enough To Beat Homelander

Season 2 Is Already Teasing It

Dean Cipher telling Marie that she can become more powerful than Homelander may just be wishful thinking as he tries to turn Marie into his own personal weapon. That being said, after Neuman’s death inThe Boysseason 4 finale,Marie is in a class of her own when it comes to her blood manipulation powers, which appear to be reaching an entirely new level in season 2.

InThe Boys, Neuman’s head-popping powers were unable to work on Homelander. However, if Marie learns how to control manipulating the blood in other bodies in ways that Neuman never figured out, perhaps shecan become powerful enough to kill Homelander with his own blood.

The season 2 trailer hints at Marie’s untapped potential as she and Jordan Li (London Thor) joke about whether she is “Chosen One” material. They may not take it seriously, but the show is framing Marie as a Chosen One given her formidable powers. Being the only one powerful enough to kill Homelander would undeniably make her the Chosen One ofThe Boys' universe.

Marie Being The One To Beat Homelander Is Unlikely, Despite Her Powers

There Are Logistical & Narrative Issues With Marie Being Homelander’s Killer

Marie’s powers are becoming increasingly impressive, yet it still seems unlikely that she will be the one who is finally able to kill Homelander. For one thing,Homelander has years of experience and ruthlessness that Marie lacks, and he will not hesitate to use these advantages to protect himself and destroy her.

While Marie is still learning to tap into and master the full extent of her powers, Homelander has no such limitations. He will also have no qualms about hurting and killing others if it means getting rid of Marie, but she has a moral code, and herconcern for protecting others could get in the way of stopping Homelander.

Even if Marie does become powerful enough to kill Homelander, there is the matter of whether it would feel narratively satisfying.

Even if Marie does become powerful enough to kill Homelander, there is the matter of whether it would feel narratively satisfying. Marie and Homelander cross paths inGen Vseason 1’s finale, but other than this, they have no history together, and unlike her collegiate peers Sam Riordan (Asa Germann) and Cate Dunlap (Maddie Phillips), she has never even been inThe Boys.

Itwould feel strange for the protagonist of aBoysspinoff show to be the one to kill Homelanderin the main series. Such an outcome would feel particularly hypocritical given allThe Boys' commentary on the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the superhero genre, only to become what they have been parodying.

It feels farmore likely that Homelander will meet his end at the hands of Butcher, Starlight/Annie January(Erin Moriarty), or another character who has been part of his story sinceThe Boysseason 1. Beyond the likelihood, it would be more narratively satisfying for a character like Butcher or Annie to be the one who brings him down.

Marie’s journey with her abilities does not have to lead to murdering Homelander. What she does inGen Vseason 2 by learning about and stopping Project Odessa from being unleashed will probablyhelp defeat Homelander inThe Boysseason 5, even if she is not the one to kill him.
