Hogwarts Legacywas a remarkable success in terms of units sold, and the newly announcedHarry PotterMax series ensures that the wizarding world IP is going nowhere for the foreseeable future. Based onHogwarts Legacy’s success it seems clear that a sequel or spin-off would be a smart choice, and perhaps sooner rather than later, but in the meantime it is questionable how much a sequel would service the game. Instead,Hogwarts LegacyDLCcould add to the game what it does not already have, making it a wholly comprehensive wizarding world experience with an expansion pass.
Because there has been no news of DLC it might not be highly likely at this point thatHogwarts Legacycould suddenly reveal an expansion pass roadmap down the line. It is not completely out of the realm of possibility though, even while a potential sequel or spin-off could be in development. There are many possible ideas that Avalanche could introduce in DLC that were omitted fromHogwarts Legacy’s gameplay and narrative, but a four-part expansion with extensive quests for each Hogwarts house would offer as much content as fans could hope for.

Hogwarts Legacy’s Exclusive House Quests Offer Unique Content
Hogwarts Legacyfeatures exclusive quests for each house, meaning that there will be a slight difference in one questline that players journey on depending on which house they sorted themselves into. Some houses have quests that are indistinguishable from another and are arguably less exciting, whileHufflepuff’s exclusive house questis easily the most interesting since players get to travel briefly to Azkaban and see Dementors.
Gryffindor’s exclusive house quest is entertaining because it gives players their only way to interact with Nearly Headless Nick, but Hufflepuff receiving such a distinct quest makes it seem like this was an incentive for fans to choose a house that is commonly stereotyped as being boring or unimportant. Rather, Slytherin’s exclusive house quest is perhaps the most mundane of all exclusive quests.
This is fine since the Slytherin house gets a lot of attention already throughout the narrative, particularly throughSebastian Sallow’s companion questline inHogwarts Legacy. None of these quests are long, but they offer a frame of reference for what a DLC expansion pass could offer with exclusivity for each house being a main proponent.
Hogwarts Legacy DLC Could Expand Each House with New Quests
If each Hogwarts house received another exclusive quest that was fulfilling and extensive, that could offer a great post-launch reward for fans who enjoy picking up a fresh save file and belonging toeach ofHogwarts Legacy’s houses. DLC quests would not need to tie into the exclusive quests each house already has, and instead they could relate to other students in these respective houses who maybe did not get as much interaction time as the player’s scripted companions.
Each DLC quest could portray the house’s common characteristics through their students this way, and one advantage to having four separate DLCs in an expansion pass would be that Avalanche could use each DLC as a way to introduce highly anticipated features in gameplay.Quidditch would be an incredible addition forHogwarts Legacyin the first of four DLC expansions, for example, and could tether all four DLCs together as a Quidditch Cup between each house in each entry.
Having new gameplay features arrive this way would allow for requisite development time. Plus, if the order of which houses would receive their quests first was revealed, fans could prepare their playthrough accordingly and start progressing through different houses in order to be ready for when they launch.
Hogwarts Legacyis available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, with PS4 and Xbox One versions launching May 5 and a Switch port releasing July 25.
