Video games have become increasingly cinematic experiences over the last decade or so, many moving from dumb fun to putting a heavy emphasis on storytelling. Of course, weird games still exist, just look at therecently announcedBugsnax,so it makes sense that outlandish ideas gain traction from time to time — a “floppy” guns concept is just one of the recent ones to become popular.

Jacob Janerka, who also pitched anidea for aSeinfeldgame, shared a new concept on Twitter, in which player’s weapons would flop around with each movement. While Janerka didn’t officially give the prototype a name, some have begun calling it “Projectile Dysfunction,“with one fan even sharing mock-ups of key art they made.

It’s a hilarious concept, and one that doesn’t seem like it would be awful as a multiplayer shooter. EvenDevolver Digitalreplied to the tweet, stating, “Online multiplayer Wild West duel game and then name your price.” While the offer was likely just a joke, were the concept to prove viable enough, there’s a chance it could get made.

Since the tweet went viral, Janerka has lovingly teased his audience, recently posting a cropped image of a Google search with the term “Hot to make FPS multiplayer Unity,” though it isn’t entirely clear if the developer is just messing around, or if the prototype is something they’ll actually end up pursuing. If it did come to fruition, it’s fair to say that there isn’t anything else like it currently available.

There have been numerousvideo game delays in 2020, which has created something of a spotlight on indie game developers. Smaller-scale productions have proved to be a solid alternative for triple-a releases pushed back to late 2020 and beyond. Plus, with the rise of early access as a viable way to make games, more projects than ever are releasing out into the wild.

Who knows, maybe fans of the idea will get to play a finished project someday, but Janerka is currently also working on a different project,The Dungeon Experience, which is described as “Firewatch D&Dbut with jokes.” MaybeProjectile Dysfunctionwill be a follow up to the game, for better or for worse.
