Some strong evidence has just emerged suggesting thatHalo 5: Guardiansis going to be launching on PC some time in the near future. The news comes from a change in the Amazon listing for the game, where the cover art of had text changed from “Only on Xbox One” to “Xbox One console exclusive.”
Multiple sources have previously stated thatHalo 5: Guardianswas not planned for a PC release. This led many to believe that theHalofranchise wouldn’t be making an appearance outside of the Xbox platform untilHalo Infinitecame along to bring the series to PC.
Phil Spencer was quoted at Build 2018 in regards toHalo 5coming to PC:
In terms ofHaloFPS on PC, I think there’s a ton of opportunity for us right now, but I don’t want to get into a world where we’re looking back, like atHalo 5. It doesn’t mean there’s nothing there that could ever end up on PC, but I’d much rather look forward with what our plans are.
Spencer’s comments led many to believe thatHalo 5wouldn’t end up launching on PC. However, his statement certainly left room for the Xbox team to change its mind and moveHalo 5: Guardiansto theever-growing list of Play Anywhere gamesthat fans can enjoy across both the Xbox and PC platform.
Halo 5: Guardianshas so far dipped its toes into PC with the release ofHalo 5: Forge. For those unaware,Forgeis a free-to-play version ofHalo 5’s multiplayer experience that left mostHalofans feeling stripped of the full game’s depth.
There certainly seems to be demand for the latestHalotitle to make its way onto PC, with how often the teams at Xbox and 343 are asked about it. Nevertheless, fans will have to keep watching their news feed to see if this bit of news from Amazon will actually lead to the PC port.
