Google has officially announced the date of the nextStadiaConnect, where the company will announce new titles releasing this year. Since launch, the game streaming subscription has faced criticism for a lackluster library and poor communication, though the next Connect will, hopefully, help rectify complaints that users have had so far.
Those interested will be able to tune into the Stadia Connect event on July 14, though Google didn’t announce the specific time it will be taking place.Stadia has been attempting to bolster its weak lineupas of late, but that hasn’t shielded the company from criticism. A few days ago,Google leaked a playable build ofGods and Monsterson Stadia, though the build is outdated, and the game has since been renamed according to Ubisoft. While the game was only live for a brief period, it’s still a major blow to the service, which considering its lackluster launch, isn’t a very good look.
However,Google has lowered the Stadia Premier Pro pricepointin an attempt to draw in more customers, shaving $30 off the total price. It’s a wise move on the company’s part, but it will likely need to do far more before it wins back fan favor. That should start with new game announcements, but better communication will be crucial moving forward too.
It doesn’t help that there will be increased competition with next-gen consoles.Microsoft is putting a heavy emphasis on Project xCloud, its game streaming service that looks to bring video games to an audience without consoles. It’s a clear threat to Stadia, and if Google doesn’t take steps to improve its service in a meaningful way, xCloud could be the final nail in Stadia’s coffin.
