“When I heard Gohan was the lead this time, I immediately thought, ‘It’s about him and Piccolo,’”voice actress Masako Nozawasaid. “To Gohan, Piccolo is more important than Goku.” She explained that while Goku is strong enough to handle himself, Gohan always prioritized being there for Piccolo. “He’s more than a mentor. He’s someone Gohan would drop everything for.”
Toshio Furukawa expressed his surpriseand joy that Piccolo finally received a major evolution in the film.“Goku and Vegeta have always gotten stronger, but Piccolo never really changed,” he said. “This time, he finally transforms and fights alongside Gohan. For me, that was exciting. It felt like Piccolo was finally getting his due.”

“I feel like Mako-san and I are completely in sync. When we’re acting together, it’s natural. We don’t need to plan anything out. We’ve been working as these characters for so long, it just flows.”
Nozawa revealed a unique habit: she avoids small talk with actors playing villains. “I don’t want to break the intensity,” she said while laughing. “Even if we’re just doing a test run, I stay focused. I don’t chat with the enemy.” Furukawa added that early on, this made him a little nervous. “She really gets into it. It’s intimidating sometimes!”
