Earlier this week, it was revealedFortnitewould be receiving a new weapon in the form of aCompact SMG, with Epic Games stating that it would excel at close quarters combat. Now that it is in the game, players are finding that this new weapon does what is intended, but also much, much more. The short of it is that the Compact SMG P90 is overpowered.
Compared to the in-game FAMAS or SCAR of the same rarity, this new SMG outperforms both popular weapons, with a DPS said to be around 350. As seen in the video below,Fortniteplayers trying to defend themselves by building defenses cannot simply build fast enough to counter the P90. It also seems many players find this new weapon to be as OP, if not more, than the double pump shotgun trick that was recently nerfed.
After all, regardless of skill level, a squad running a couple of this P90s can face down pros easily, as no other gun can really compete. A good sniper with a hunting rifle may be able to pick one off at a distance with a headshot, but the speed of the SMG is terrifying nonetheless. Check it out in action below:

In some ways, it makes sense to include a gun like this (though it shouldn’t be so OP), as Epic has been wanting to createmore ways to counter various strategiesand play the popular battle royale game. However, the question ultimately becomes how one could effectively counter the Compact SMG P90?.Thus far, it doesn’t seem like there is a good strategy, and it’s worth mentioning that popularFortnitestreamer Ninja is even calling for a nerf.
With Epic’s reputation for listening to its fan base, it’s possible players will see this gun nerfed soon, but of course, that is entirely up to theFortnitedeveloper. In the meantime,Fortniteplayers can be working on the celebration of its birthdayby locating all the birthday cakesin the battle royale game.
