FortniteChapter 2 Season 2 has been going on for what seems like forever, with the latest season of the battle royale being delayed multiple times from April 30 all the way until June 17 now. Of course, it’s not exactly Epic Games' fault with the current on-goings of the world, but it has taken its toll on the game, with famous streamerNinja even calling it boring now. Regardless, if all goes well, perhaps season 3 can be the turning point in that narrative.
And it seems possible that season 3 will take the story forward by going back to the original Season 10. Season 3 is now set to begin on Wednesday, June 17, followingFortnite’s newest in-game event that begins June 15. It is only known as The Device, but the simple phrase has more depth than one might expect, according to the latest theory.

In Season 10 (or Season X as it was designated), a mysterious tape could be found where The Visitor talks to a scientist about the “device,” obviously sharing the same name as the new event. At the same time, Jonesy’s vision of the future shows a dam below a rift, with there being a dam found on the new map but no rift. Couple this with the leaks and indications thatFortniteSeason 3 will flood the map, and there’s a pretty convincing fan theory.
In short, the Visitor will return to the game in season 3 by opening a rift above the dam, with that rift intentionally or inadvertently flooding the map. The likeliest reason for this seems toFortnite’s notorious Visitorseeking out the device for whatever reason, neatly tying old and new together for the upcoming season. Not only does it sound convincing (despite being stretched out across seasons of content), but it’s also a popular theory in theFortnitecommunity. After all, it wouldn’t be the first time the character has stirred up trouble.
Luckily, fans won’t have to wait long to see if thisFortnitetheory holds water since it is now scheduled to take place on June 15. That’s barring any moredelays for theFortniteevent/season, of course, but everything seems to be on track.
