Not too long ago, the video game developer Epic Gamesadded a fresh SMGtoFortnite’s free-to-play Battle Royale portion, considerably beefing up the wildly popular multiplayer sandbox survival shooter’s wide ranging armory of weapons. Now, it looks as if the studio is set to bring in yet another sub-machine gun, by teasing the forthcoming addition of what’s being called the Compact SMG.
As seen in the image below from the Redditor andFortniteBattle Royale fan known as TheGoldScrew, the in-game news feed for the hybrid construction shooter has declared that the Compact SMG is “Coming Soon!”, which will likely be with the game’s next weekly reset. As far as the new firearm’s attributes are concerned, the developer is describing the weapon as an “Epic and Legendary rarity SMG that exceles [sic] at close quarters combat.”
As of now,Fortnitehas become a phenomenon on practically every gaming platform on the market – Nintendo Switch just recently received a port – and players on those systems will surely be intrigued to give the Compact SMG a go once it’s available. As a matter of fact, Epic Games is looking to expandFortnite’s availability, with the developer potentially aiming to revealits Android release datesooner than fans might expect.
Bearing all of this in mind, it’s obvious that Epic Games is investing inFortnitefor the long haul. This is easily seen in the studio’s decision to not only keep the title stocked with new cosmetics, gear, items, and weaponry, but also aggressively grow the multiplayer release’s availability. These updates also indicate that the game is a hugely successful venture. After all, Epic Games has already revealed that it has madeover $1 billion from microtransactionssince its release last summer.
Fortniteis available now for iOS, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, with an Android launch set for sometime this summer.
