The final installment in theHaikyuu!!anime series, originally announced in August 2022, is set to be a two-part film project.Haikyuu!! the Movie: Decisive Battle at the Garbage Dumpis the first of the two sequel films set to depict the dramatic final showdown between eternal rivals Karasuno and Nekoma.

An image of the logo of the first film was released a year after the original announcement on the series' official X (Twitter) account.

The announcement of the two upcomingHaikyuu!!movies was made at last year’s “Haikyuu!!x V.League All-star Special Match ‘The Volleyball’”, a two-day event that is the result of collaboration between the original manga and the Division 1 Men as part of the manga’s 10-year anniversary celebrations. TheHaikyuu!!stage play was also announced for August 2023, taking place in Tokyo.

The originalHaikyuu!!manga was created by Haruichi Furudate, who launched it in 2011 before its serialization in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump in February 2012. VIZ Media has licensed the manga for distribution in English both digitally and in print, and was publishing simultaneously with the Japanese release. The manga ran for 45 volumes until its conclusion in July 2020.

TheHaikyuu!!television anime series was produced by Production I.G., with the first season running for 25 episodes from April to September 2014, the second running for another 25 episodes from October 2015 to March 2016; while the third season, titledHaikyuu!! Karasuno High School vs Shiratorizawa Academy,ran for 10 episodes from October to December 2016.

A two-cour fourth season titledHaikyuu!! To The Top!ran for a total of 25 episodes, with the first 13 episodes airing from January to April 2020, and the last 12 from October to December 2020. The series also has four OVAs that were released throughout its run and a number of compilation films released after the conclusion of the TV series. The upcoming pair of films will serve as the finale for the Haikyuu!! animated series; however, no official release date, cast or staff information has been confirmed as yet.
