Last month, it was leaked thatFallout 76would be adding anew mode called Nuclear Winter. Now Nuclear Winter has been officially announced by Bethesda, and as some predicted, Nuclear Winter will be a full-blown battle royale mode forFallout 76. And it’s available in the game now.

TheFallout 76Nuclear Winter battle royale mode will allow up to 52 players to battle it out in the game’s post-apocalyptic wasteland. The ultimate goal is to become the Overseer. Players will have a variety of weapons at their disposal to reach this goal, as well as Power Armor, turrets, and more. TheFallout 76Nuclear Winter battle royale mode will even include nukes.

Based on the E3 2019 gameplay trailer forFallout 76’s Nuclear Winter battle royale mode, it seems as though there will be a couple of major ways it will stand apart from other battle royale games on the market. For example, it appears as though theFallout 76battle royale map will be filled with monsters players will have to contend with as well, plus it seems to have some kind of base-building, with players constructing defenses and turrets in the world.

Fallout 76’s Nuclear Winter update is available now. AnyFallout 76players will be able to jump in as soon as the update is available to them, as the content update is coming free of charge. And even those who have yet to buyFallout 76will have a chance to try the battle royale mode as well.

That’s because Bethesda is also hosting afree trial week forFallout 76from June 10 to June 17. This free trial will let players access the full breadth ofFallout 76’s content, including the Nuclear Winter battle royale mode. So any battle royale fans tempted by the new mode can try it before they commit to buying the full game.

Whether or not theFallout 76Nuclear Winter update can win back lapsed fans remains to be seen. However, there’s no denying that it will give players something new to do and may give some a reason to return to the game.
