Fable Fortunehas been troubled since launch. After anunsuccessful Kickstarterthat failed to reach its ambitious funding goals, developers found funding from other sources. Upon release the game had many issues, and spent over eight months in early access. The game left early access only two years ago, where it was met with mixed reviews.
Fable Fortunewas meant to revive theFableseries, but instead it might be last game in the once dominate series. There’s rumors that anewFablegame is coming out for the Xbox Series X, but as of now this is unconfirmed.
The online card game market place is already dominated by giants likeHearthstone, andMagic: The Gathering Arena. For players who want a dedicated fantasy setting there’sGwent, the card game fromThe Witcher. The game contains manyfan favorite charactersfromThe Witcher, and has has become popular as a standalone game. Perhaps there was no room forFable Fortunein this crowded marketplace.
On the other hand, Riot Games has recentlyreleased its own card game,Legends of Runeterra. This game has already become very popular in its own right. If it can bring in fans of bothLeague of Legendsand traditional card games, it might soon see viewership and player numbers rivaling those ofMagic: Arenaor evenHearthstone. Unfortunately forFable Fortune, it didn’t have the IP, nor the budget, that Riot Games is able to bring to the table.
