Warning! This article mentions suicide.
Former shaman and Player 044 Seon-nyeo (Chae Kook-hee) brought a unique perspective toSquid Gameseason 3, as her past career gave her the ability to predict several other players' fates. The hit South Korean drama by Hwang Dong-hyuk released its final season in June 2025. InSquid Gameseason 3, Lee Jung-jae’s Gi-hun returned to end the games.
As Gi-hun reentered the games in episode 3, “001”,Seon-nyeo quickly reached out to him and deduced that he had been a player before. Despite her abrasiveness giving her a bad reputation among other players, she survived until the fourth game, “Hide and Seek.” However, she encountered Park Min-su (Lee David), who killed her as he was hallucinating.
8Kim Young-mi
Player 095
During the events ofSquid Gameseason 2, Seon-nyeo allied with Kim Young-mi (Kim Si-eun) to survive Mingle. Joining forces with Cho Hyun-ju (Park Sung-hoon), Jang Geum-ja (Kang Ae-shim), Park Yong-sik (Yang Dong-geun), and Kim Jun-hee (Jo Yu-ri), the group formed a team of five to survive the early rounds. However, things changed when requirements were lowered.
As such, when it came to assembling a team of five, Seon-nyeo was discarded by her four teammates and left to fend for herself. Despite this, she still survives the round, holding a grudge against her former teammates. In the following round, she glared at Young-mi.
Shortly after this one interaction, Young-mi would meet her end in the penultimate round of Mingle. Young-mi would find herself locked outside of her safe room when Lee Myung-li takes her place and condemns her to death.Given her faith in fate, it is likely Seon-Nyu was aware of what would happen beforehand, hence her glare.
7Cho Hyun-ju
Player 120
Even after the death of Young-mi, Seon-nyeo would continue to hold a grudge against the rest of her former team. She declares that each of them will die facing their allies. For Hyun-ju, this ominous threat would carry multiple meanings.
In Hide and Seek, Hyun-ju would be stabbed in the back by Myung-gi (Im Si-wan), as the pair found themselves on opposing sides despite seemingly sharing the same goal. Not only is she killed by someone who could be considered an ally, butshe also dies facing Geum-ja and Jun-hee. As such, Seon-nyeo’s prophecy is fulfilled in several ways.

As her former team continues to fall apart, Park Yong-sik would be the next to fall shortly afterduring Hide and Seek. Finding himself on the red team, he was unable to bring himself to kill anyone, making him liable to be eliminated by the guards. Ultimately,he would tearfully face Geum-ja and Jun-hee.
While Geum-ja would plead with her son to kill her so that Jun-hee’s newborn child could survive, he attempts to kill the baby. This forces his mother to make the difficult decision to stab and incapacitate her son, hoping guards will show him mercy. Like Hyun-ju, he ultimately died in front of his allies.
Player 388
Despite beginning as an eager follower and eventual friend of Gi-hun, Kang Dae-ho (Kang Ha-neul) would eventually fall on the wrong side of the leading character. After panicking during his failed revolt, Dae-ho earns Gi-hun’s hatred, leading to him targeting his former ally. As Hide and Seek began, Gi-hun set out to find Dae-ho and end his life.
Across the game, Gi-hun followed Dae-ho, and even almost killed Player 197 after mistaking him for his target. However, Gi-hun was ultimately aided by Seon-nyeo, who told him where to find Dae-ho to spare her herself. With Gi-hun soon ending Dae-ho’s life,it is possible she was aware of how their final meeting would end.
Player 149
Though Seon-nyeo would not see it, Geum-ja died at the hands of people she may have thought better of, albeit indirectly. Fearing for Jun-hee’s child and following the loss of her allies, Geum-ja pleads with the remaining players to vote to end the games. However, the majority chose to continue.
Having been thoroughly broken by the losses and how the games might reflect humanity’s true state, she asks Gi-hun to help protect Jun-hee’s child. After everything, she is left with only faith in his goal. That following night, she committed suicide by hanging herself, with the others witnessing her end in the morning.
3Kim Jun-hee
Player 222
The sole remaining member of her former team, while Kim Jun-hee gathers a strong defense around herself in hopes of saving her and her child’s lives, she too dies in the games. Having a broken foot from Hide and Seek, Gi-hun attempted to plead with the manager to allow her some assistance. Despite this, Jun-hee was offered no mercy.
Though Gi-hun helped Jun-hee to ensure her child survives and crossed the bridge successfully, things quickly descended into chaos. As several surviving players attempted to kill one another, Jun-hee sacrifices herself in hopes that her child can live on. Ensuring her care to Gi-hun,the last thing she sees is her child and friend moving to the next game.
2Im Jeong-dae
Player 100
While he may have survived into the last game, it can be argued that Seon-Nyeo had an awareness of how far Im Jeong-dae (Song Young-chang) would survive from the very first game. During Red Light, Green Light, she ensured that she stood behind him to survive. However, Jeong-dae locks her out in Hide and Seek, leading to Seon-nyeo foretelling his end.
As Jeong-dae seemingly left her to her fate, she called upon the gods to break his skull and pulverize his organs. True to her plea, the final game, Sky Squid Game, would place him in a situation where his entire body would receive grievous bodily damage. The game involved the final players carefully crossing an abyss.
While Gi-hun once more hoped to appeal to the better nature of the remaining players, the game quickly devolved into a brutal fight for survival. Jeong-dae, Gi-hun, the baby, and Myung-gi emerge as the final players, and he attempts to broker an agreement. However,Myung-gi declines, pushing Jeong-dae off the platform to fall to his death, fulfilling Seon-nyeo’s decree.
1Seong Gi-hun
Player 456
Finally, Gi-hun himself would find himself fulfilling Seon-nyeo’s first prophecy by theend ofSquid Game. Within their first meeting, she was able to determine his motivation. She knew that Gi-hun saw himself as part of a larger effort by rejoining the games, not playing for himself, but for those he lost and humanity as a whole by ending them.
However, in this interaction, she also indicates that she knew he would outlast the others. Despite not knowing the deadly twist, she states that she could offer him a gut reading once they both emerge from the games. While she may not have had the entire picture, she saw him as someone who could reach the end.
Despite this, her words also seemingly sealed Gi-hun’s fate, as she accurately stated he could not move beyond the games, and there was no changing his fate. This accurately predicts Gi-hun’s sacrifice to prove In-ho’s (Lee Byung-hun) view of humanity wrong and end the South Korean games. Gi-hun died along with the games he gave his all to end.
While some time may have been needed to see the larger picture, Seon-nyeo’s prophecies add a rewarding new element toSquid Game’s final season. For viewers eager to revisit the series, they may be able to draw the connections her words have to several characters. As such, she stands out among the cast, despite not making it to the end.
