Steam just received a huge package of classic games fromElectronic Arts, all of which are now on sale.EA’s partnership with Valve started this past year with the launch ofStar Wars Jedi: Fallen Orderon Steam. The plan since then was to bring EA Access to Steam, too. A huge wave of games, and a promise of more, is a surprise, but a welcome one at that.
This first wave of 25 games features a ton of Electronic Arts classics. The three mainDragon Agetitlesare a part of the games now available.Burnout Paradise,Need for Speed, and otherNeed for Speedtitles bring EA’s racing library to Steam. TheCrysisgames, bothMirror’s Edgetitles, and a couple ofMedal of Honorclassics are included. It’s a great line-up some of Electronic Arts' greatest games.

At the forefront of the new wave of releases is something new, or at least something old that’s been made new. TheCommand & Conquer Remastered Collectionis out now and available via Steam. The packaged includes bothTiberian DawnandRed Alert, plus all threeRed Alertexpansions. Hopefully, it marks a new era for theCommand & Conquerfranchise.
As for why Electronic Arts is making such a major shift back to Steam, EA SVP of strategic growth Mike Blank puts it simply. He says that EA wants, “to make it easy to play the games you love, wherever you want to play.” Considering EA’s past loyalty to its own PC storefront Origin that may come as a surprise, but PC gamers aren’t likely to complain. Blank asks gamers to look forward to more EA games on Steam, as well as theEA Access subscription service, available later this summer.
EA’s games are currently available on Steam, most of the discounted between 50% and 66% off.
