Elden Ring Nightreignhas confirmed the addition of a Duos Mode to the game, to go along with its three-player-focused gameplay and Solo Mode.Nightreignhas received amixed reception at launch, with most points of contention being the game’s imbalance, focus on three-player multiplayer, lack of voice chat and crossplay, and an overly challenging single-player experience. One of the most requested features was a Duos Mode, so just two friends could play the game together, and it is on the way this year.
According to a post from the officialElden RingX account,a Duos Mode will be coming to the game, as well as DLC, new updates that will be “gradually implemented,” and the addition of “enhanced fights” against existing Night Lords. The Night Lord boss additions will be coming this month, while the Duos Mode and DLC will be coming later this year, with no confirmed release date yet.
Everything Confirmed For Elden Ring Nightreign
Duos Mode, New Boss Elements, And DLC Are Coming This Year
The biggest new addition is the Duos Mode, even if we don’t have a release date or even release window yet. The game currently only allows players to group up in groups of three or tackle the game solo. Previously, game director Junya Ishizaki explained it was"something that was overlooked during development"when asked about why developer FromSoftware did not include a Duos Mode in the game.Nightreigngot anupdate earlier this weekto address the game’s solo mode and bugs, but now, fans can look forward to Duo Expeditions.
Additionally, there will be somegeneral additions to the game. The new"enhanced fights"against the existing eight Night Lords are coming this month, but no other information was confirmed. The confirmed DLC is expected to release in the last part of 2025 and will likely include new Nightfarers, bosses, and more. But with the game only a few days old and officially surpassing 3.5 million sales, it seems like FromSoftware is in it for the long haul for this game, and plans to support it for a long time.
Our Take: Elden Ring Nightreign Keeps Getting Better
FromSoftware Is Taking Feedback Seriously
Despite its rocky release, especially with the lack of a two-player option in a multiplayer-focused game,Elden Ring Nightreignis already in a better place nowthan it was just a few days ago. The Solo Mode is more manageable (though still difficult since the game has been balanced around three-player co-op), the bugs are fewer, and fans are figuring out how the game works, with it being a drastic departure from previousSoulsgames.
There was already amod for Duos Modefor the PC version of the game, but now that an official one is on the way, fans can expect to have a more enjoyable experience playing Nightreign, if playing solo or with randoms isn’t working out. FromSoftware is listening to feedback and taking the game and its longevity seriously, so, despite an iffy start,Elden Ring Nightreignmight turn into the Souls game a lot of fans want it to be.
