Fans first heard news of the upcoming game through two job postings for Techland in 2021, which only hinted that the developer was working on another AAA open-world RPG like theDying Lightgames.Techland officially announced the gamein May 2022, inviting people to send in job applications and revealing some of the big names already working on the project. It also gave fans an idea of what the game might look like, revealing some art and describing the game as an AAA Open World Action-RPG in a fantasy setting.

In its newest announcement, Techland has released more concept art and the promise that the game will be narrative-driven and story-focused. The fantasy epic, as the developer calls it, is still untitled, and the timeline for when the game will be released is unknown. Unfortunately, there isn’t much information available, but in the meantime fans can play otheropen-world fantasy RPGs likeElden RingandLegend of Zelda: Breath of the Wildto whet their appetite.
Fans can also playDying Light 2,which is still getting DLCsand improvements, while they wait for the new game to be released. Techland plans to continue improvingDying Light 2even as it creates another game, and said last year that it planned to supportDying Light 2for at least another five years.
Specifics about Techland’s new game are still very private, but members of the gaming community could potentially play a large role in shaping the game once it’s farther along in its development. TheDying Light 2franchise director believes the communityshould be involved in makingDying Light 2even better, with developers listening to community feedback and potentially having closed betas post-launch. He doesn’t believe game development has to be so secretive, and it’s possible that this openness will extend to Techland’s new game.
