Recently,Dragon Ball Z: Kakarotrevealed that it would at least go through the Cell Saga (though we are expecting Majin Buu as well) and featureTeen Gohan and Trunks as playable characters. Now, publisher Bandai Namco has dropped a new trailer for Gamescom 2019 that highlights several events of the Cell Saga and reveals gameplay for Teen Gohan.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarotis meant to be a faithful telling of Goku’s story, but a significant portion of the Cell Saga revolves around Teen Gohan. Arguably, this is when Gohan is at his strongest, as it was during this saga and his fight with Cell that Gohan first became and maintained a Super Saiyan 2 form. Most of the gameplay is what many would expect from aDragon Ball Zgame, simply recallingXenoverseinto memory.

Gohan is seen dashing around the battlefield, using a barrage of ki blasts, performing various combos, and of course, using the iconic Father-Son Kamehameha Wave against Cell in battle. It also shows a little of Gohan flying around with his Dad, as well as participating in what appears to be yet another mini-game: Meal Time. This mini-game seems focused on seeing Goku eat as much as he can in order to earn buffs, which is a nice touch based on Goku’s outrageous appetite.

As seen below, it also briefly shows scenes that are, presumably, related to both the fishing mini-game and the driving mini-game based on theCell Saga’s driving episode. The way it looks, it may be that it isn’t just a mini-game, but thatDragon Ball Z: Kakarotplayers will be able to drive for the mundane fun of it. That is unknown at this time, however.

Considering the deep lore and complex continuity ofDragon Ball Z, it’ll be interesting to see what Bandai Namco does with it. Regardless, here’s everything DBZ fans need to know before playingDragon Ball Z: Kakarot.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarotis slated for release in early 2020 and is coming to the PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
