It’s been a tough couple of weeks for Bungie, as the developer bides its time until the first expansion is available forDestiny 2. After fans noticed some improper XP scaling during a Clarion Call event, Bungie came out and confirmed it was removing a system that essentiallythrottled the amount of XP earned for playerswho participated in quick, consecutive events. While the change no doubt made fans happy, the end result has led to more unrest in the community.

After announcing the XP change last week, a Tweet from the Bungie Help account confirmed that the promised changes have not yet been adjusted in theDestiny 2API. As such, players may notice that the earned XP values are still off and that the correct number to fill the experience bar and earn a bright engram beyond level 20 is actually 160,000 XP.

The Tweet itself seems innocuous enough, but what took players by surprise is that the total amount of experience needed to level up and earn a Bright Engram has doubled. In the past, players had used the API to discover that it took 80,000 XP to essentially gain one level after hitting the soft cap.

Since updating the XP scaling issue, it would then appear, based on this latest Tweet, that Bungie has stealthily increased the total XP requirement. No doubt, this subtle change has not gone unnoticed by fans like Aercus on sites like Reddit, who are seeing this as another attempt to push people into spending money to getBright Engramsfaster.

The growing concern now facing the developer has seemingly been exacerbated by the studio’s pattern of slower responses and relative lack of communication with its fans. In a new blog post tomorrow, game director Luke Smith and project lead Mark Noseworthy will address the many system changes coming in season 2 andthe issues brought up by the communityas well. After three months of availability, perhaps fans will finally be getting answers to the many questions that have arisen over these past few months.

Destiny 2is now available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
