Destiny 2’s Season of Opulence launched with the Menagerie, a new 6-player matchmade activity that has a new loot pool for players to grind for gear. The roadmap for this seasonforecasted the eventual arrival of a Menagerie Heroic Mode, which is coming next week. Just a week away, developer Bungie has now detailed the differences in the Menagerie Heroic Mode.

As manyDestiny 2fans probably expected, the differences start with increased difficulty. While the regular Menagerie starts with enemies around 700 Power and scales up from there, the Heroic version will start at 750 Power, the current season’s cap, and will increase up to the final boss fight at 770 power level.

destiny 2 menagerie no matchmaking

The other significant change to the Heroic version is that it does not have matchmaking, so players will have to organize a group themselves similar to a raid. The normal Menagerie is generally very forgiving with no real fail state with relatively simple mechanics, but the Heroic mode is going to ramp up the difficulty in a particular way that might make it harder for matchmade groups of random players to get through it.

That is, a failure state does exist in Heroic viathe Extinguish modifier, which will send the entire fireteam to orbit if every member of the fireteam dies. The choice to disable matchmaking in this situation mirrors Bungie’s choices in activities like the Nightfall.

In addition to this, Heroic Menagerie will also have its own weekly curated gameplay modifiers, which rotate per boss. There are also Triumphs, rewards, and challenges that can only be earned by completing the Heroic Mode. The Heroic version of the Menagerie will become available upon the weekly reset on Jul 25, 2025.
