Marvel just gaveDeadpoolan extra-powerful upgrade as the new host of a legendaryX-Menvillain. In their latest Marvel Comics adventure, Wade Wilson and his daughter team up with two generations of Wolverines, and things get complicated when the new Deadpool is possessed by an iconic X-Men supervillain, causing the younger Deadpool to unleash her strongest form yet.
Wolverines & Deadpools #2, by the creative team of Cody Ziglar, Rogê Antônio, Guru-eFX, and Travis Lanham, concludes with Ellie, the second Deadpool, being officially taken over by the Shadow King.
Shadow King’s one of the most powerful X-Men villains, and as it possesses Ellie, she’s able to easily take down both Wolverines and her father.
Deadpool’s Daughter Gets Her Strongest Upgrade Yet As She Bonds With Terrifying X-Men Villain The Shadow King
Both versions of Deadpool came into the newWolverines and Deadpoolscrossover with limited access to their abilities, but Ellie’s Shadow King transformation immediately proves to be a ferocious upgrae. Ellie’s just got a chance tomeet the Wolverines for the first time, and now, the Shadow King’s possession proves that she’s already a formidable fighter against them.
All fourWolverine and Deadpool heroes got X-Force style costumesat the beginning of the issue, but the color change was just a step toward Ellie’s shadowy ultimate form as the evil entity’s new host. Since Ellie’s enhanced healing factor also makes her mind especially strong and receptive, the Shadow King wants her as its host for an “eternal reign”.
The Shadow King is largely underrated; he’s arguably one ofMarvel’s best villains in X-Men comics, but the entity has been a seriously threatening antagonist to some of the most powerful mutants, like Xavier and Storm. Without its previous host, Amahl Farouk, in this new era, the Shadow King will want to keep Deadpool in its clutches as long as possible.
Ellie’s Possession By The Shadow King Connects The Young Hero To The X-Men Franchise’s History
AsWolverines and Deadpools’ father and daughter adventurefinds Ellie become officially possessed by the Shadow King, she might finally be gaining a deeper connection to her mutant identity. Though she hasn’t officially met the X-Men yet, teaming up with and fighting Wolverine and the Shadow King gives Ellie serious credibility in the world of Marvel’s mutants.
It’s unlikely that Ellie’s “Shadowpool” possession will be permanent, but readers will have to find out how the villainous transformation shakes out in the limited series’ upcoming finale. Even if the Shadow King and its super-skilled new host are somehow defeated,Deadpool getting such a strong upgrade from the terrifying X-Men villain proves her powerful potential in the Marvel Universe.
