Disciplesis a name that game players likely haven’t heard in some time.Disciples 3, the latest release in the series, launched in 2010, but it seems that publisher and license-holderKalypso Mediais ready to bringDisciplesback. Today it announced that a new game is in development calledDisciples: Liberation, which is being made byOddworld: Soulstormcontributor Frima Studio with plans to launch late in 2021.

Disciples: Liberationwill remain authentic to the series as preceded it as a dark fantasyturn-based strategy RPG, featuring a single-player campaign described as offering 80+ hours of content. Players will pick from four different classes for their journeys and will then be able to recruit from over 50 different units for their army. Players will also build their very own base, from which they’ll launch their campaign. For players interested in multiplayer,Disciples: Liberationwill allow for two-player online skirmishes.

Accompanying the announcement ofDisciples: Liberationis a short cinematic trailer. The trailer’s scope is rather limited, but should give an idea of the game’s tone andmaturity level. It isn’t immediately clear how the scene, which features a pair of people being tortured through tattooing, fits into the broader story and setting ofDisciples: Liberation.

Those hoping to get an early impression of just whatDisciples: Liberationis all about can go to the game’s website now and register for a potential slot in the game’s closedPC beta. It will run between March 3 and April 3, but will only be accepting 200 players. After that there may hopefully be more opportunities to tryDisciples: Liberationbefore launch.

Disciples: Liberationwill release in Q4 2021 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
