Call of Duty: Modern Warfareis currently enjoying Double XP and Double Tiers for the Season One Battle Pass, but there’s even more reason for fans to celebrate this week. Perhaps taking some criticism to heart, Infinity Ward has updated theCall of Duty: Modern Warfareplaylists, adding the Shoot the Ship playlist that puts the game’s smallest and arguably most popular maps together.

The Shoot the Ship playlist inCall of Duty: Modern Warfareconsists of Shoot House and Shipment 24/7. For the unaware,Shoot Houseis an original map created forModern Warfareand added post-launch that has quickly become one of the most popular maps in the game. Infinity Ward has often had a Shoot House 24/7 playlist available, and when it removed it the first time, the backlash was so severe that the studio backpedaled almost immediately.

Shipment, meanwhile, is a fan favoriteCall of Duty 4map that has been remade forModern Warfare. WhileModern Warfare’s version of Shipment is slightly different than the original, it is a mostly faithful recreation and has also proven popular. Shipment has also found itself the center of some controversy, though, asModern Warfare’s spawn systemhas made it a common occurrence for players to spawn on the map and instantly die.

Shipment and Shoot House both have their detractors, but there’s no denying that the maps are both hugely popular. SomeCall of Dutyfans just prefer the immediate action that they provide, and so putting them in a playlist together makes a lot of sense. The maps cater to the same kind ofModern Warfareplayer, and this way those who just want to play on the small maps can do so much more easily.

TheCall of Duty: Modern WarfareShoot the Ship playlist is similar to an idea that was proposed by a Reddit fan earlier this week. They suggested aChaos 24/7 playlistthat featured small maps, and a Callback 24/7 playlist that featured larger remade maps like Crash and Vacant. The latter idea has yet to be implemented inCall of Duty: Modern Warfare, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see a playlist dedicated entirely to old-school maps at some point in the future.

After all, datamining efforts and leaks have indicated that Infinity Ward plans onadding more classic maps toModern Warfare, including the likes ofModern Warfare 2’s Rust and Terminal. Whether or not this ever comes to pass remains to be seen, but fans will just have to stay tuned to find out.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfareis out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
