Between multiple hit films, a well-received TV show, and its success in other forms of media,Evil Deadis undoubtedly one of the most revered franchises of the horror genre. While theEvil Deadfranchise hasn’t seen a new video game for a while now,Bruce Campbell teased a newEvil Deadgamea few months back with no real word on it since. To stoke the flames even more, Bruce Campbell stated in a recent interview that anEvil Deadgame is on its way relatively soon.
As mentioned previously,Bruce Campbellconfirmed the development of theEvil Deadgame a few months back when responding to a tweet from a fan. When asked about the possibility of a newEvil Deadgame, Bruce Campbell replied with a simple, “Yes.”
In an interview done with TV Insider over his hosting of the upcomingRipley’s Believe It or Not!reboot, Campbell was asked briefly about the state of theEvil Deadfranchise. Specifically, he was asked, in light of the cancellation ofAsh vs. Evil Dead, if there will be another installment in the series.
Campbell explained, “There is anEvil Deadvideo game out.” He added that it is a “fully immersive video game probably within a year. I’m not sure about the day… There won’t be the original Ash anymore. That guy is done.”
As of right now, not much detail has been shed on the upcomingEvil Deadgame beyond Campbell’s nods towards its development and potential release window.
ForEvil Deadfans, this is assuredly great news, but there is also likely a level of frustration given that they have not seen gameplay yet. Given the potential disappointment ofMortal Kombat 11not featuring Ash as a DLC character, despite rumors, a newEvil Deadgame is sure to cheer fans up.
Plus, while the definition of “fully immersive” isn’t quite clear, “immersion” as a hype word is nonetheless promising. As for comments on the departure of the “original Ash,” only time will reveal the direction of main protagonists within the series.
