What To Expect Post-Launch From Borderlands 4
The DLC Plans Seem Similar To Past Entries
There are currentlythree different game versionsBorderlands 4fans can pre-order: the Standard Edition, Deluxe Edition, and Super Deluxe Edition. The Standard Edition is just the game itself. The Deluxe Edition includes the base game, Firehawk’s Fury weapon skin, and the Bounty Pack Bundle, which has four additional areas, missions, and bosses, more gear and weapons, new cosmetics to customize thenew Vault Hunters, new vehicle cosmetics, and four vault cards. The Bounty Pack content will be added post-launch.
Finally, the Super Deluxe Edition includes all of the aforementioned content, plus theVault Hunter expansion pack, which will include two new Vault Hunters, two new map regions, new story and side missions, new gear and weapons, and new cosmetics. Borderlands 4 Looks Like It’ll Keep You Busy For A While
A lot of content seems to be planned forBorderlands 4, whichshould keep fans coming back to the titlefor months or even years post-release. Though the pricing is sure to rub quite a few fans the wrong way, with the additional story DLC not even being included in the Deluxe Edition. The prices of the DLC packs outside of their respective editions do not appear to be available yet. Even with the game costing $69.99 instead of the speculated $79.99, a lot of fans foundPitchford’s controversial comments disappointing, so it might take some time to earn goodwill from fans.
Borderlands 3was widely seen as a step back for the franchise after the massive success ofBorderlands 2, which had a lot of post-launch DLC, like the highly-regarded Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep. All the DLC packs for that game were $9.99 each. It is nice to hear there will be some free content forBorderlands 4, but the series' history of aggressive microtransactions, coupled with its recent pricing controversy, might be hard to overcome. We’ll see soon enough, though, becauseBorderlands 4launches for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2 on September 12.
