With the live feeds turning on five days after the houseguests moved in, viewers couldn’t access them until Sunday, July 13. Even so, within days, one houseguest was caught using an offensive, insensitive term (viaTMZ).Isaiah “Zae” Frederich, who’s currently nominated for eviction, used a slurduring a game of chess with his fellow houseguest Keanu Soto, claiming he was"a fing r**."

While Zae quickly corrected himself and explained that was"one of the [words] I was working on not saying"to Keanu, who reassured him that it was late and the feeds likely wouldn’t be showing him. Unfortunately for Zae’s public perception, Keanu was wrong. Now manyBig Brotherfans are rallying behind the show to expel Zaefor his misconduct, despite him being nominated for eviction.

What Zae Using A Slur On Big Brother Live Feeds Means

Zae’s The First Houseguest This Season To Make Offensive Comment

Zae, who used his experience in the Mormon faith as an introductory tactic during theBig Brother27premiere, was quick to correct his behavior, but the fact that he openly used a slur and clocked that it wasn’t something he should’ve done doesn’t erase that he did it in the first place.Zae’s behavior is expulsion-worthy, butBig Brotherisn’t likely to take action.

ThroughoutBig Brotherhistory, the show has expelled houseguests for using derogatory language and racial slurs, most notablyBig Brother25’s Luke Valentine, but has been more lenient on slurs that don’t revolve around race. While their policies aren’t clear to viewers, it’s likely things move on a case-by-case basis.WhenBig Brother25’s Jared Fields used the same term, he wasn’t removedfrom the game.

While Jared may have been a special circumstance considering he was there with his mother,Survivorlegend Cirie Fields, it was clear that he was spoken to about his language. Zae, who may be facing eviction in the next 36 hours, could have been given the same treatment. Unfortunately, allowing Zae to continue in the game sets a precedent for houseguestsusingoffensive language on theBig Brotherlive feeds.

Our Take On Zae’s Potential Big Brother Expulsion

Zae Broke The Code Of Conduct & Should Be Removed

WhileZae is currently up for evictionand could be leaving the house on his own in the next two days, removing him from the game for his behavior makes more sense than allowing things to be left up to fate. Zae choosing to use derogatory, insensitive language of his own volition, despite knowing it was against the code of conduct, is his own issue.

ThoughZae’s unlikely to be expelled fromBig Brother27over his use of the ableist slur, it’s clear that he should face consequences for his actions in the game. WithBig Brotherlive feed viewers looking for any sense of accountability,it’s difficult to understand why a show that’s cracked down on issues in the past would choose to let this slide.

Big Brotherairs Sundays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays (and Fridays every other week) at 8 p.m. EDT on CBS.
