InApex Legends, players are often faced with the choice to heal or flee, with the former slowing down the player so much that the latter is not an option. There are also options to be revived by other players or evenself-revive in the game, but that means players actually die first. Now, some have discovered a method of bunny hopping that allows players to heal while making some form of escape.

It’s worth highlighting that this is likely to be patched out at some point in the near future, as it seems improbable thatdeveloper Respawn Entertainmentintended for this workaround to have a place inApex Legends. The core concept sounds simple enough: players start healing while sliding and repeatedly jump from that slide, keeping momentum going until the healing is complete. That said, perfecting and using that technique can be anything but simple.

Keyboard and mouse players can make this approach easier on them, however, by binding jump to scroll wheel, though it is not impossible to do with a spacebar or other controls. As demonstrated below, it can be an effective method of retreat and heal, without sacrificing one for another inApex Legends.

When it’s all said and done, mastering this trick can be the difference between life and death…until this is patched out at least. It’s clear that this is a game that Respawn Entertainment intends to support for some time, as it has previously mentioned the possibility ofnew maps coming in the fold.It stands to reason, then, that quality of life patches forApex Legendswill come in frequently as well, eventually eliminating this method of healing.

When considering the short period of timeApex Legendshas been available, it seems likely small little tricks and exploits like this will become more prevalent over time (and fixed as well). Players should keep in mind that, even after this exploit is patched, that sliding down a steep heel and healing will likely remain a viable option.

Apex Legendsis out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
