Despite officially launching not too long ago, severalAnthemplayers have already made it to the higher level tiers due to the video game’s staggered release schedule. This has led the developer BioWare to deal with some issues such asthe contentious Legionnaires Tomb challengeearly on, with players reaching the level cap quickly also giving plenty of glimpses into what can be expected out of the endgame content.
This type of endgame content includesLegendary Contractsand powerful Masterwork weapons, the latter of which has damage scales that range exponentially. There are unverified reports of weapons dealing over 4 to 5 million in damage, but one player has actually dealt out a single damage shot of 1.38 million.
This damage comes from a heavy pistol, but a weapon known as the Devastator can apparently do much more, with player reports putting it in the 4-5M range. It’s worth noting that some buffs were involved when dealing out such massive amounts of damage with the heavy pistol, but some could argue that it was an unintentional exploit, as it seems uncertain if another Javelin could rival the Storm with this possible DPS.
As seen in the video below, the damage dealt by this heavy pistol was buffed by the Gunslinger’s Mark, a Masterwork Storm-only component that buffs damage by 60%, while hovering and dodging earns another stack. It seems possible that BioWare at least further limits the stacks of this component, but until then, it is an incredibly powerfulAnthemcomponent in an endgame Storm javelin.
As time marches on, it will be interesting to see how high this damage ceiling climbs inAnthem. BioWare has already listed somechanges that will be working their wayinto the game, so it wouldn’t exactly be surprising to see some nerfs issued. That said, the reception of these nerfs could be a different story altogether.
Anthemis out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
