After more than a decade,Ahsokaseason 2 will revisit one of George Lucas’ best, but weirdest, ideas.Ahsokaseason 1 threw a lot at audiences in just 8 episodes, but it showcased some of the legacy ideas Dave Filoni worked on with George Lucas.

Filoni and Lucas worked together onStar Wars: The Clone Wars, where Lucas pitched the idea of theMortis gods. These three beings -the Father, the Son, and the Daughter - were all the living embodiments of the Force, with the Son representing the dark side, the Daughter the light, and the Father the balance of the Force.

The Mortis arc inThe Clone Warsis one of the series' best, but also weirdest, as audiences had never been introduced to these kinds of beings beforehand. While they’ve appeared sparingly sinceThe Clone Wars, it seemsAhsokawill really be focusing on the dead Mortis gods.

Ahsoka Season 2 Returns To The Mortis Gods At Last

Depictions of the Mortis gods appeared inStar Wars Rebelsseason 4 as part of the passageway into theWorld Between Worlds, and again in theAhsokaseason 1 finale. One of the final shots ofAhsokashowed Baylan Skoll standing on top of a massive statue of the Father, with depictions of the Son and Daughter on either side.

AtStar WarsCelebration 2025, Dave Filoni revealed at a panel in which Screen Rant was in attendance that theMortis gods will play a role inAhsokaseason 2. It’s unclear how they will impact the story, especially since they were all killed inThe Clone Wars.

Baylan Skoll stands among statues of the Mortis gods in Ahsoka episode 8.

There are many theories surrounding how the Mortis gods will impactAhsokaseason 2, or why there were massive statues on Peridea. One of the leading theories is that Ahsoka Tano, Baylan Skoll, and Anakin Skywalker’s Force ghost will take over the roles of the Daughter, Son, and Father, respectively.

How Ahsoka Season 1’s Ending Set Up The Mortis Gods

The final few episodes ofAhsokaseason 1 showed that a force of some kind was calling out to Baylan Skoll once he arrived on Peridea, and he left Shin Hati to go investigate what it was. With Baylan’s final appearance showing him on top of the Mortis gods' statues, it implies they have something to do with it.

Additionally, withHayden Christensen confirmed to appear inAhsokaseason 2 as Anakin Skywalker, and Anakin’s Force ghost appearing on Peridea at the end of theAhsokafinale, it implies he will also play a larger role.Anakin had previously been recruited by the Father to take over his role, soAhsokaseason 2 may see that actually happen.
