Publisher is looking for ways to bring the series back to life
AnyCrash Bandicootfans getting excited over rumors of the orange ex-Sony mascot returning to the house of PlayStation for a much-needed reboot may have raised their hopes in vain. Rumors sparked early last week after an alleged screenshot of anAmazon France listing of a newCrash Bandicootsurfaced (believed to be a hoax), and peaked late last week when reddit user cocobandicoot found thatActivision removed all mentions ofCrashfrom its sites, including shutting down the official website for the series.
It appears Activision is gearing up to do something with the franchise that doesn’t include returning Mr. Bandicoot back to Sony, as a representative stated to Game Informer later that day that “Activision ownsCrash Bandicootand we continue to explore ways in which we could bring the beloved series back to life.” If I was to reachwayout there, I’d speculate thatmaybeActivision definitely still ownsCrash, but that the publisher is licensing it back to Sony so it can develop a reboot. Too far-fetched?
